7 Core Entrepreneurial Values to Set you Apart
One of the things I like about the 21st century is that almost everyone is into entrepreneurship, even youngsters. People want to have their own businesses and support themselves. They don’t want to rely on anybody and that’s really cool.
That being established, there are a lot of entrepreneurs and the competition is tough. Everybody is trying to promote his/her business, to make a lot of profit. It becomes really difficult to rank or get your business out there, especially for the new guy.
But being a newbie doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t get into the competition and get your share.
Now, most of the old hands got to where they are today, by working really hard. If you are to follow their footsteps, it will take you roughly as long as it took them to get where they’re today. So time factor, which you don’t have and I don’t advice you to even waste your time. You should think differently.
Instead of playing hard, play smart. Be the person that uses smart to get there.
You play the ‘game’ (FYI business isn’t a game, the word just fit there) differently to set yourself apart from the competition.
To do that, take the following steps:
1. Passion
Passion should be the foundation and driving force behind your business. If you don’t have passion for what you do, you won’t have the commitment it deserves and you won’t give in your best. Have passion for what you do, be interested in the business.
2. Focus
Your business needs focus, especially when you’re just starting out. It is like a baby and you’re the parent. You must give it all the attention it needs or else it won’t thrive and flourish.
Fix you mind on the business. Develop a business mindset. Think and act like a business person.
3. Trust
You need trust in your business, have confidence in yourself, your business and your team.
If you don’t have that element of trust in your business, how do you expect customers to trust you?.
Building trust is very important to your business and your shouldn’t take it likely.
4. Teamwork
Teamwork is very crucial to your business. You have to develop and nurture the team’s spirit. When people are united against a common goal, you’d be surprised by what they can achieve.
Work well with your team and do your best to boost their morale. Make it so that they enjoy working with or for you.
5. Customer-orientation
Your whole business should be client-centred, because without them, your business will be in shambles, you won’t make any profit.
Put yourself in their shoes, walk a mile, and then another. How did you feel? Are your services any good? How can you improve their experience and make them happy & satisfied?.
These are things you should consider and act upon. Happy customers means more profit, after all.
6. Communication
There’s no business without communication. Imagine going to the store and just staring at the guy at the counter, not talking. No matter how long both of you stay there, no transaction will take place without you communicating.
Business communication isn’t only about communicating with clients, but with the team also.
The team should have this understanding between each other. There should be good rapport between one another.
7. Creativity
If you really wanna set yourself apart from the hoi polloi of businesses, you need to be creative and innovative.
You should keep trying something new, keep experimenting, look for better, smart ways to do things.
Intelligence is about 99% creativity. Be creative, don’t hold yourself back or a team member when it comes to that. It wouldn’t hurt to try.
If it does hurt, it serves as a lesson. Anyway, I think it’s a win-win.
So, in summary, to stand out as an entrepreneur you should have passion, be focused, have trust, have teamwork, be customer-oriented, creative and have good communication skills.
